Tea Tree Oil Acne Treatment – 3 Critical Tips for a Natural Acne Cure by David A. Hirsch
Tea tree oil is distilled from the leaves of an Australian plant known as Melaleuca Alternifolia. This light yellow oil is a natural substance that has both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It is useful for a wide range of medicinal purposes, alleviating gingivitis, athlete’s foot, sunburn, warts, blisters and many other ailments in addition to being an excellent natural acne cure.
Tip 1: Don’t Use Too Much - Tea tree oil is quite potent for killing acne bacteria, but too much will dry out your skin. Simply apply 2 or 3 drops on to a cotton ball or Q-tip (not your finger) and apply it to the affected area. For a natural acne therapy, the tea tree oil acne treatment can work fast, often showing results in just a few days.
Tip 2: Use It In Pure Form - Not Diluted – Tea tree oil acne treatments can often be found in the form of 5% solutions, and some sources will advise against using purer concentrations, but there is no evidence that pure tea tree oil can harm you if used sparingly as indicated in Tip 1. The pure form will have a faster and more long lasting effect on your acne.
Tip 3: Let It Sit Overnight - Although you should apply the tea tree oil acne treatment at least 2 or 3 times a day, the last application should be just before bed, and it should be allowed to remain undisturbed on the affected area throughout the night to insure the maximum absorption effect.
When applied properly the tea tree oil acne treatment can work fast, and it will have residual beneficial effects for 3 – 4 weeks. Although it will alleviate current acne infections, it can’t remove the underlying cause of future acne breakouts. The best preventive medicine for that is a healthy diet and a regimin of cleanliness – including regular washing with mild soap and water.
Tea tree oil in its pure form is available at most health food stores and on the internet. Avoid wasting your money on fancy gels or creams that may have it in a diluted form.
